Maestro Wilbur Wittemann



  • Director of Bands at Georgian Court University for 28 years.
  • In 2001 Georgian Court University named Wilbur as its Director of Jazz Studies.
  • Conducted bands and performed on trumpet with many world famous musicians and orchestras: Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, Arturo Sanduval, Urbie Green, Slide Hampton, Louis Bellson, Bill Watrous, Allen Vizzutti, Steve Turre, Clark Terry, Phil Woods, Bob Mintzer, Lew Tabackin, Randy Brecker, Red Rodney, Dave Weckl, Wayne Bergeron, Jose Feliciano, Little Anthony, The Platters, Shari Lewis and the Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras.
  • Wilbur is conductor of orchestras with the string sections from the Philadelphia Orchestra, Trenton Symphony and the Philly Pops.
  • Ranging in size from 3 to 40 musicians, Wilbur Wittemann Orchestras perform all styles of music.
  • Wilbur performs on cornet, trumpet, and flugelhorn with his Bourbon Street Dixieland Band, Musicology, Wilbur Wittemann Revue, and The Lakewood Jazz Ensemble.
  • He has been arranging and coordinating various concert series and jazz festivals for over 25 years.
  • Wilbur has received the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the NJ International Association of Jazz Education.
  • Selected as “Teacher of the Year” two times.
  • He has selected as Citizen of the Year by the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and elected to the Alumni Hall of Fame.
  • Wilbur is one of the tri-state areas most requested clinicians, guest conductor and music festival judges.
  • He is a popular educational in-service presenter and often speaks at arts councils and conventions.
